Today I ( Tisharn ) was creating a new version of what I want room 9 to look like. If it's too hard to tell what's what then I will explain.

 The 5 different colored rectangular's are tables, the purple thing by the door is a rug , one room on the right side is a bathroom and the one next to it is a kitchen. There are the 5 windows and on the far right side of the windows is a book shelf. I was thinking of putting more than one bookshelf because I love reading, but that would make it more a library than a classroom.

Last week Rm 9 was learning about the different cultural dances. We learnt how they are performed , where they are and what they wear. We learned about the arts in Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe and the pacific. In the last 8 slides there are a few videos to watch.

 What do Witches look like in Fairy Tales?

Usually Witches have a long and narrow green nose with a wart at the end of it. They have long and curly nails, on her feet and on fingers.

In Roald Dahl books the Witches are bald but have wigs, toeless feet with high heels and claws instead of fingers which they hide behind gloves. All of this leads to a normal looking woman.

What is the most important thing to know about Witches?

The most important thing to know about Witches is that they kidnap kids and make them vanish. Sometimes you can be turned into an enchanted object, animal or paintings.

The witches motto is Squish them and squiggle them and make them disappear.

In fairy tales no, because to me it sort of sounds like a girly thing, like Giants, there are only male giants. In real life I believe there is the movie Hansel and Gretel where there is the kid boy Witch.

The Boy misses his parents and after his transformation he misses being a human once again.

It was clearly in evidence that the boys parents died in a car crash.

The first story Grandmother told to boy was how a girl went missing and when they went to the museum the father saw her in the painting. He took a good look to confirm it was her in every angle and when he returned the next afternoon she had moved.

Roald Dahl Research Writing

 

 

Today I was doing some research writing on Roald Dahl and his famous books. I enjoy reading his books and have read every 49 of them. Roald Dahl as you should know loves Quentin Blakes illustrations. He loved to play and invent new words. Before he passed away his last word were "It's Just that I'll miss you so much" and as the nurse pricked him with a needle he swore.

Basic operation

 

Because of the level four alert I was given work to do at home. I did my BASIC OPERATION and went back to what I've already learned but these questions were only a warm up. The questions were hard at first but it got easier along the way. There were some things I didn't quite understand, like a few symbols.

Evolution to Dance

Today Group one has worked on our speech for our Maniakalni film festival. We decided to do our own version of "Evolution to Dance"

Tisharn - Our group had decided to borrow someone else’s idea, seeing their point of view they couldn’t explain their own idea.

What is the evolution of dance, you may ask? Evolution of dance is all about different Genres like Hip Hop, Ballet & Dances from throughout the decades.

The reason we’ve chosen the evolution of dance is because our inquiry is about Art & Performances. So our group wanted everyone to participate to have fun during this Film.This film is also supposed to inspire kids to give our performance a try.

Fear of 13

Today Room 9 was writing a responce on two optional topics that were writing on the board. "The day of the dead and The fear of 13." The fear of  13 is historicaly bad luck, because 12 is a whole number. ( 12 stars and 12 months )

Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. It occurs when the 13th day of the month in the Gregorian calendar falls on a Friday, which happens at least once every year but can occur up to three times in the same year. According to folklore history, the unlucky number 13th originated from a Norse myth, where 12 gods had a dinner, one to which Loki wasn’t invited to, so he took the seat being known as the 13 guest.  He had arranged for  Hoor to shoot Balder with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Balder died, and the whole Earth got dark. The whole Earth mourned. It was a bad, unlucky day." This major event in Norse mythology caused the number 13 to be considered unlucky. Rossini was surrounded to the last by admiring friends; and if it be true that, like so many Italians, he regarded Fridays as an unlucky day and thirteen as an unlucky number, it is remarkable that on Friday 13th of November he passed away. It is also known that months that begin with a Sunday, will always have a Friday the 13.

Reasoning in Geometry

Today I was learning to reason in Geometry. We calculated the following six question, that we were supposed to do the day before. We learned about right angles, straight lines and complimentary. We learned about the meanings of A,Y and X. It felt like to me it took forever, I wasn't very good and knew nothing about it, but my teacher explained everything and I got a little used to it. It still looks pretty confusing, but when someone explains to you about it, it's doesn't really sound that complicated.

 

Tisharn Narrative writing

 It all started on the beach. As usual me and my family were having fun on the beach. Then all of a sudden we felt rumbling, we thought we shouldn’t worry about it. We thought it was another earthquake, but it was stronger. 

That was when we realized that it was a volcano eruption. We didn’t have time before a storm was stirring up, then out of nowhere the volcano actually erupted. Some weren’t worried, because they wanted to see what would happen. A very dumb dog ran straight to the lava lake, it burned straight away, I ran closer to get a good look at what the dogs remains were, but there was nothing there. Very scared I ran back to my family who were waiting for me. 

We rode straight away even though none of us had our seatbelts on. Dad thought we should take the motorway, but there was a traffic jam. Man, Dad should’ve listened to mum. We saw dark clouds conjure above us and the wind picked up. We saw lightning flash up ahead. We were totally focused on the storm, we forgot about the volcano. It was only when I saw something whistle ahead, it looked like a rock, a volcano rock. My Mum leaned forward and turned on the radio for instructions.

 The radio man said that the safest place to go was Mangere. Dad drove us there and we were in Mangere for like two whole days and a half. We got home in a rush. We were shocked by the mess. It would take us ages to clean it up, not to mention we needed new repairs for our bathroom and roof. Geez, that should take us nine days to finish. We’ll get through it.  

After the nine days of hard work, Dad asked if we wanted to go to the beach to celebrate our good work. Me, Mum and older brother all looked terrified, we all shook our heads and ran straight to our rooms. Our littl sister obviously didn't remember the volcano, because she wanted to leave straight away. My Dad said he was joking, but it didn't look like he was joking, it looked like he was desperate. 

Monday's sport start

 Today, since it was the start of a new week. And of course we had to play some type of sport, I can't believe that he didn't know the name of the sport. Our sport coach name was James. He explained to us the rules and purpose of the game. The only rules in the nameless game, was that were not to move with the ball. After we talked about how to play, and the rules we got into two groups. Group one was Giamarni,Taunese,Ngere,Davlyn, Sunny Lily Mapa,Mariah, Lino and Lusia. Group 2 was Me, Punua,Mama, Lily Uasi, Terell,George, Railey and Mani. The first round started off terribly, because it was so cold. My lungs felt frozen! I was last one standing in the first round, so I pratically won. But the second round was the most exhausting round ever, I was one of the ball taggers, we barerly got anyone. The third round was just for fun, it was like sort of a challenge. Whoever got Wesley and Lily got promised a Hot chocolate, but we didn't get Lily, they only got Wesley. 

The FIRST Cybersmart Challenge

but we learned the difference between pictures online that are taken to look at and another 

fact that there are some photo's that we can use. Most might not be what you are planning to go for.
